Morgen - Aube (www.daimon.ch)

In honour of Gitta Mallasz acknowledged righteous among the nations, them Daimon editions publish  Morgen – DawnA small book of interviews never before published in French. It's a bilingual edition, with a cover based on a watercolour by Gitta.

These are messages from the angel Morgen transmitted by Hanna Dallos in German from December 1943 to February 1944 and transcribed by Gitta. They were addressed to one of her childhood friends, a pro-Nazi Hungarian who had joined the Waffen-SS. Morgen is the only angel to have revealed his name (Morgen has two meanings in German: as an adverb, it means "tomorrow"; as a noun, it means "morning").

These interviews already appear in the German and Hungarian editions of the Dialogues with the angel and Patrice van Eersel told their story in The white source. But they were never published in French, as Gitta was not satisfied with the few attempts at translation that she had made.

The poet Pierre Emmanuel, to whom Gitta had sent these poems in German, had been struck by "their mysterious clarity, untranslatable because of the extraordinary conciseness of their language".

The present translation, by Elena Hinshaw-Fischli and Eric Lombard, strives to restore the rhythm and conciseness of the German while adhering as closely as possible to the meaning of the words.

The second birth

In the night
breast
the child swims
tender and naked.
Pale,
point light
in the dream.
The child matures.
The breast is getting small.
Strength
the passage,
to the top,
to the door !
Go outside
to the light.
No barrier
don't stop!
The night
give in
and stay
downstairs.
The child
awakens
to eternal life.
Death is dead,
for ever.
only life
in God.
