Sixteen days in February 1945, under the Allied bombs, hell for these women devoid of everything, shivering, their feet in excrement. Hanna and Lili had no burial, but a young woman was there who accompanied them until their last breath: <a title=\"Eva Danos\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dialogues-ange.fr\/eva_danos.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eva Danos<\/a>. To flee the Nazis, this young Hungarian hid in 1944 in the uniform factory of <a title=\"From Budaliget to Budapest\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dialogues-ange.fr\/dialogues_buda.html#Katalin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Katalin<\/a> directed by Gitta Mallasz, attended some of the last dialogues, then voluntarily accompanied Hanna and Lili to deportation and boarded the fateful train with them... German military hospital where a Benedictine recommended her to write down what she had experienced.<br \/>\nIt is this story originally written in Hungarian which appeared in French on January 12, 2012 by Albin Michel under the title <em>The last convoy<\/em>.<!--more--> This is a single document. To our knowledge, there is no other testimony of what happened in these convoys, the ultimate instruments of Nazi torture where the victims fought among themselves, thus becoming their own torturers. His reading does not leave unscathed, even if tiny gestures and meager words indicate that there was still some humanity in this universe without mercy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_237\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-237\" style=\"width: 238px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ad-dialoguesange.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Eva-Danos-1998.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-237\" title=\"Eva Danos 1998\" src=\"https:\/\/ad-dialoguesange.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Eva-Danos-1998-238x300.jpg\" alt=\"Eva Danos 1998\" width=\"238\" height=\"300\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-237\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eva Danos in 1998<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Sixty-seven years separate the writing of the book and its publication in French, almost the time of a lifetime. Resolutely positive after the war, Eva will not dwell on her past. She will start her life again in Australia after a stay in France, where to bear witness to the cruelty of Nazism, she will have her story published in a newspaper in Haut Doubs, Le Pontissalien. It was at the insistence of her family that she took over the text, translated it into English and published it on her own at the end of the 1980s.
