<\/a>There are those who speak Hungarian like her husband, Laci Walder, who will meet his Angel and will fully adhere to the task that inhabits his wife. There is also, remembers Marguerite Kardos, a group of Hungarians of which she is a member and which meets from August 1965 at Gitta's house or at one of them (or, in summer, on the benches of the park of Sceaux): Eva P\u00e9terfalvy, Rosy Rey, Vera Sz\u00e9kely [1], artists. Some are \u201cbilingual lame\u201d, others who have been in France for 20 years know French perfectly, but all are very demanding and enthusiastic.<\/p>\n
But many don't speak Hungarian at all. This is the case of H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Boyer, mentioned in the 1976 edition as having collaborated in the translation, and of Father Henri Ormaechea, a Franciscan who had been seduced by the text. He recounts the weekly sessions \u2013 veritable ping-pong games \u2013 which continued for two years to prepare for the first edition in 1976:<\/p>\n
She began to read aloud. She said: \u201cthere, it is badly translated\u201d. Or else said: "That's not enough." I would then make suggestions for translations. She said: \u201cno, it's not that yet \u2013 or quite that\u201d. We were beating around the bush and then, at the right suggestion, she would say: \u201cThat's it! And she wrote it down immediately.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n For his part, Dominique Raoul-Duval [2] recounts with humor and emotion the "unforgettable experience" of his collaboration with Gitta for the integral edition of Dialogues with the Angel<\/em> and for two of the four commentary books:<\/p>\n Our method was simple: Gitta's prose often remaining approximate, with a haphazard syntax and an uncertain vocabulary, the same question came up, from sentence to sentence "What exactly did you want to say?" \u00bb<\/span> To discover the complete testimonies of Father Henry and Dominique Raoul-Duval: from Hungarian to French, on www.dialogues-ange.fr<\/a><\/p>\n [1] Vera Sz\u00e9kely, (1919-1994), is a Hungarian artist who was first a swimmer. She was trained by Gitta Mallasz until participating in the Berlin Olympics in 1936. She then became Hanna's pupil, as well as Pierre Sz\u00e9kely, who was to become her husband. During the Budaliget interviews, they lived in Hanna's parents' apartment in Budapest and were the first readers of what would become the Talking with Angels<\/em>. They will settle in France after the war.<\/small><\/p>\n<\/a>
\n Gitta explained at length, and we found, by trial and error, the words which suited her thoughts exactly.<\/span>
\n The years spent in publishing, working on other people's texts, had made me demanding: a hundred times Gitta would have stopped on the way, satisfied with the imperfect formula that I had just suggested to her; a hundred times, stubbornly, I affirmed that one could find better\u2014and one could find better, in fact.<\/span><\/p>\n
